We often get asked by homeowners whether we think their property should undergo construction renovations, or build new. The answer, of course, depends on your unique situation, how far off your existing home is from your dream, how you feel about your current location, and what your financial goals and future plans are either way. The important thing is to consider what each path offers.
Construction renovations can often be subtle, improving on the existing building or house. Or, they can be drastic, much like a remodel. Remember construction involving a home renovation often refers to “restoring” or “repairing” an existing structure, replacing the old with the new.
Renovations tend to be cheaper than remodels.
Examples of renovations include:
Home Remodels generally work to change the appearance, structure, or function of a room. In other words, a remodel works to improve upon or transform the existing design and layout of a room. Remodeling refers to "changing" or "transforming" a building or home.

Examples of remodeling include:
Deciding whether to renovate or remodel your property can be a big decision. You’ll want to take into account your budget (what can you afford and how will you cover the costs?), time and your final goals for the property.
If you’re looking to update a few aesthetic areas or increase the value of your home in time to sell it, a quick home renovation may be your best bet. If you are settling into the property for the long run and you aren’t happy with the look and/or functionality, a full home remodeling may be the best route.
